Health Services Administrator Intern – 12-Week Summer Internship

About the Damar Internship Program

As a Health Services Administrator Intern, you’ll gain hands-on, real-world experience in the healthcare field. Over the course of a 12-week summer internship, you’ll work closely with a team of highly qualified professionals and gain valuable exposure to our unique client population.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to pursue a career in Health Services. You’ll learn how our facility operates, interact with a diverse and experienced team, and expand your network by collaborating with other exceptional interns and practicum students who share similar career goals. As a Health Services Administrator Intern, you’ll focus on understanding the overall operations of our health clinic and pharmacy. This is more than just an internship — it’s a chance for mentorship, leadership development, and coaching. You’ll contribute to the success of our clients while building meaningful relationships and skills that will support your future career.

Remarkable ways you will be making a difference:

  • Assist with projects that will enhance the agency’s health service programs
  • Attends and observes community meetings with the administrator
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Meets the agency's standards of timely completion of progress notes
  • Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all clients, their families, and the community

What you need to be considered:

  • High school diploma
  • Currently enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college or university
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
