About the Damar Internship Program
As a Recreation Intern, you’ll gain hands-on, real-world experience in the field of Recreation during a 12-week summer internship. You’ll work closely with a team of skilled professionals and gain valuable exposure to our unique client population. In this role, you’ll assist with a variety of para-professional tasks that support the care of individuals served by Damar. You’ll work alongside the Recreation department to implement activities focused on health, physical education, recreation, and aquatics, ensuring an engaging and positive experience for those in our care. This internship offers more than just experience — it’s an opportunity for mentorship, leadership development, and coaching. Not only will you contribute to the success of our clients, but you’ll also become part of a network of other driven interns and practicum students, all with shared career goals.

Essential Job Functions:
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
