About the Damar Internship Program

As an Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA) Intern, you’ll gain real-world, hands-on experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Over the course of a 12-week summer internship, you’ll work closely with a team of highly qualified industry professionals and gain valuable exposure to our unique client population. This is more than just an internship — it’s an opportunity for mentorship, leadership development, and coaching. You’ll not only have the chance to contribute to the success of our clients, but you’ll also be part of a network of other exceptional interns and practicum students, all driven by similar career goals.

Remarkable ways you will be making a difference:

  • Follows the direction of ABA Program Director
  • Assists during initial ABA assessments and psychological testing
  • Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations, which may include client physical aggression
  • Consistently implements ABA strategies to reduce client’s maladaptive behavior or to improve adaptive behavior
  • Provides direct therapy as designed in the client’s treatment plan
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction
  • Works with clients, staff, clients’ families, and the community in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Participates in Parent’s Night Out and Before and After Care services
  • Conducts and supervises recreational and life enrichment activities
  • Assists with administrative needs, such as, scanning, filing, and/or record review
  • Completes timely and accurate billing notes when providing direct therapy
  • Understands client’s rights and protects them by promptly reporting any violations
  • Completes all required documentation daily, in a professional manner – must be objective, accurate, and thorough – to provide consistent client treatment

What you need to be considered:

  • High school diploma.
  • Currently enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
