Damar is a mission driven nonprofit serving children and adults with developmental /intellectual disabilities and autism. With more than 1,300 employees, our work depends on strong leadership, clear systems, and disciplined decision making across the organization.

 

We are seeking a Human Resources Intern for Summer 2026 who is interested in contributing to meaningful HR initiatives within a growing organization.

 

This internship will involve direct interaction with senior HR leadership and participation in projects that support organizational clarity and effectiveness. The intern will rotate across key HR functions and will be expected to contribute to defined projects throughout the summer.

What You Will Work On:

Projects may shift based on business priorities during the summer.

  • Assisting with analysis and documentation of HR processes
  • Supporting projects related to workforce planning, role clarity, and internal consistency
  • Organizing information into clear written and visual formats
  • Contributing to materials used in leadership discussions
  • Observing how HR decisions are evaluated and implemented

What We Are Looking For:

This role is best suited for a student who is curious, dependable, and ready to take ownership of assigned work.

  • A student pursuing Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated reliability and follow through
  • Ability to work independently with guidance
  • Interest in understanding how HR supports fairness, accountability, and operational stability
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
